I Kept Opening the Calendar and Learning Nothing

Ten minutes before a recording, I do the same thing every time. Click the calendar event. See who I'm talking to.

And every time, the event told me almost nothing. A name. An email. A link to join. That's it.

So I'd go open PodGlue, find the booking, read what they'd written, their bio, how we met, the thing they said they wanted to talk about, and then come back. Every single episode. A minute here, a minute there, always in the last few minutes before I hit record, which is exactly when I have the least attention to spare.

The information was never missing. I collected all of it on the booking form. It just wasn't where I was looking.

What changed

The calendar event now carries the whole intake.

Phone number, and then every answer the guest gave, including the questions you wrote yourself. If you ask "what's a hobby you wish you'd gotten into," that question and their answer are right there in the event description, under a section called Guest intake.

One detail I care about more than it probably sounds: your custom questions now show up as you wrote them. There was a quirk where a long question got chopped into something like "What Is Your Favorite Movie Or Tv Show If None How About A B", the system was reading a shortened internal label instead of the real question. It pulls the actual text now.

Empty answers just don't appear. If a guest skipped something, you don't get a line saying "Not provided", you get a shorter description with only what they actually told you. And the photo link sorts to the bottom, because those URLs are enormous and I didn't want one shoving the useful answers out of view.

What this looks like for you

Ten minutes before your next recording, you click the event. You see their name, their number if you need it, and the answers they gave you, the hobby, where you met, what they want to cover.

You don't open anything else.

One thing worth knowing

Your guest is on that calendar invite, so they can read the description too. That's deliberate, and worth saying plainly: they only ever see what they themselves submitted. Nothing about your other guests, nothing private to you.

This is a small one. But the whole reason PodGlue exists is that the podcaster ends up being the integration layer, the person carrying context between six tools because nothing else will. Prepping for a conversation by hunting through two apps is that same problem in miniature.

The episode is a byproduct. The conversation is the product. Anything that makes me walk into one better prepared is worth the afternoon.
